Wilmington NC CPAs have an additional week to file Form 1120-S and Form 1120, from 9/15/11 until 9/22/11, secondary to Hurricane Irene. CPAs in NC counties that have been declared FEMA disaster areas have even longer. To qualify, proper 2010 extensions for Form 1120-S and Form 1120 had to be filed by 3/15/11.
I think the IRS is actively trying to soften its harsh reputation through positive PR. It also costs them less to eliminate expense, for the inevitable individual calls for relief, by issuing an automatic directive for the additional week. This is just good management.
