IRS Form 2159, Payroll Deduction Agreement, is a voluntary version of wage garnishment. If you violated prior IRS Installment Agreement (Form 9465), Form 2159 may be the only avenue available to pay off back taxes over time.

Consider the following two issues before going to your boss:

  • Your employer signs off on Form 2159, which implies additional legal liability.
  • Administering payroll is surprisingly expensive.
