Client Testimonials

As a professional with a busy schedule and layers of accounting complexity, I need the peace of mind that comes with knowing my financials are being handled professionally, in compliance with all laws and regulations, and with an eye to detail.

Gary Bode has provided tax preparation and business accounting assistance to me for three years now, and I can honestly say that I rest well at night, knowing that someone is tending to the details that I don't have time to master.  He is professional, always willing to work through a complex situation, and he explores every angle.

I look forward to working with Gary for many years to come, and wholeheartedly recommend his services to anyone who is looking for the assistance of a capable accountant.

IRS Notice CPA accountant comments on using IRS Tax Audit Guides | IRS.gov

Wilmington NC CPA and tax accountant discusses tax audits

IRS Notice CPAs have access to the official IRS Tax Audit Guides the Revenue Agents use. We offer a free consult for IRS resolution issues. (910) 399-2705.

IRS Tax Audit Guides, published on IRS.gov, details what an IRS tax audit examiner looks for during the IRS tax audit process. I became aware of IRS Audit Tax Guides (ATGs) while being a controller for a construction company.  Intended to help develop highly trained tax auditors, the IRS publishes manuals for many market segments on their website, IRS.gov.  I became aware of IRS Audit Tax Guides (ATGs) while being a controller for a construction company. Construction accounting has lots of quirks and the IRS Tax Audit Guide helped me bulletproof their QuickBooks. Sort of a reverse engineering for accounting methods.

From IRS.gov: “These Guides contain examination techniques, common and unique industry issues, business practices, industry terminology and other information to assist examiners in performing examinations.”  Like specific tax audit guides for Ministers and Contractors.  Other guides are for specific issues that arise across multiple market segments, like say Lawsuit Awards and Settlements.

There is also a tax audit primer available that overviews the entire process from the initial Notice to audit closing, including a video series.  Related topics like Record Keeping and Burden of Proof delineate what the IRS examiner would expect to see during a tax audit.

Of course, IRS.gov has many other resources too. Tax forms you can fill out and print, specific instructions by tax form, a tool to verify vendor/employee names and identification numbers, guides to IRS phone numbers etc., etc.

Our virtual office means we can handle your IRS tax audit wherever you live.  So if you don’t have a local IRS Notice CPA, or just like what you read, call for a free consult. We also offer tax preparation services with a  friendly mix of tax experience and excellent customer service.  (910) 399-2705.
